Car Scheme Plus If you want to get out and about but have difficulty using public transport, then Car Scheme Plus could be the answer. A new Peugeot Expert vehicle has been fully adapted for wheelchair users and offers a door to door service for people of all ages. First Contact The First Contact scheme uses a simple checklist to help people aged 60 or over receive services to keep them safe and independent in their own homes. Self Help The Self Help Link is part of the Retford Community Link and is funded by NHS Bassetlaw. Help and advice is available for existing and new self help groups. We also encourage the involvement of statutory and voluntary agencies and professional workers. Energy Help and advice on keeping warm and well. Room Hire Whether you’re a business, charity or training organisation our meeting room or training room can fulfill all your requirements. Conveniently located in Retford not far from the town centre, close to the bus and train stations. Share a Ride The idea behind the scheme is to enable individuals to car-share with each other to and from work or for pleasure. Share a Ride is part of the core work of Bassetlaw Action Centre. Community Minibus The Bassetlaw Community Minibus is a new wheelchair friendly minibus which is available to local community groups and individuals within the district who need flexible, affordable and accessible solutions to their transport needs. Training We have a fully equipped training suite. ICT and Basic Skills Courses are available through the WEA (Workers Education Association). Staying Well EPP The Staying Well Expert Patients Programme (EPP) is a self-management course to help people living with long term conditions maintain their health and improve their quality of life through a course led by someone else with a long term health condition. Car Scheme “The Bassetlaw Community Car Scheme provides a community transport service serving the residents of Bassetlaw who are unable to access public transport” Stroke Service Bassetlaw Stroke Information Service is designed to be a central point of contact for Stroke survivors their families and carers. Housing Choice The service is aimed at older people, their families and carers, who recognise that they are starting to find things difficult in their own homes and want to consider their options to meet their changing needs. DEMENTIA FRIENDS We are proud to say that we are a Dementia Friendly organisation. Our organisation has signed the Bassetlaw Dementia Pledge and all of our staff have become Dementia Friends. People with dementia sometimes need a helping hand to go about their daily lives and feel included in their local community. Dementia Friends is giving people an understanding of dementia and the small things they can do that can make a difference to people living with dementia – from helping someone find the right bus to spreading the word about dementia. WINTER WARMTH There are a range of local inititives available to help reduce the level of deaths and morbidity in Bassetlaw that are due to vulnerable people living in cold housing.
